Organic Vegetable and Herb Farm Partners Needed Near Chattanooga, 2017

THESE POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED FOR 2017

Sandabama Farms is a small organic vegetable farm located in the corner of Alabama where Tn, AL, and GA meet. We are 45 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. We currently have 15 acres that are certified and are working to transition 20 more over the next 2 years.

In the past, we have mainly operated with family help, and a few part-time workers. Now that we have grown larger, and the demand for our produce is difficult to meet, we are looking for 2 farm partners – either individuals or a couple, who will help manage the day-to-day operations of the farm, keep records, and grow the area’s best GAP certified, USDA organic produce.

We are looking for someone with organic farming knowledge, but are by no means requiring experts. Basic farming skills are preferred. Work would mainly be Monday through Friday, but occasional weekend hours may be needed. Our partners would have as much autonomy as they wished as far as making decisions, but would also have all the help they needed from the team here. Partners would take part in each aspect of managing the farm and production, from greenhouse work to planting, hoeing, and harvest.

For long term organic vegetable and herb farm partners, we can help arrange housing (no place on the farm but rentals and for-sales nearby). While there isn’t a place to live on the farm directly, we want this farm to be home. This would move into probably farming your own parts of the farm, using our equipment, and basically running your own operation on our land. This is the perfect operation for a beginning farmer or someone looking to make your start.

Housing stipend, hourly pay AND percentage of income considered, based on experience. This would be a year-round position for the right people.

We would love to find the 2 right people by March, but the sooner the better. THESE POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED FOR 2017

Thanks for this! I happen to live right by this farm and am looking to get back to farming again. I see this posting the day you post it and am truly encouraged- keep up the information sharing. 🙂
