Beginning Farmer and Ranchers Development Program (BFRDP) Grant Writing Webinar for 2012 Applications - October 21, 2011 The FY 2012 Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (BFRDP) Request for Applications was published on September 22, 2011. Proposals are due on November 22, 2011. The purpose of BFRDP is to develop and offer education, outreach, mentoring and internships for beginning farmers and ranchers. Please note that this program cannot be used to purchase a farm, farm machinery or animals; for the planning, repair, rehabilitation, acquisition, or construction of a building or facility; to begin farming, or to set up Individual Development Accounts. Funds cannot be used to purchase land or make improvements to individual farms. USDA-NIFA is holding a webinar on October 21, 2011 between 2:00 and 3:30 pm EST to help applicants write competitive grants applications to this program.  The webinar will discuss: The Program Description; Program Eligibility; The Difference between this FY 2012 RFA and the previous year; And “Dos” and “Don’ts” of successful proposals.

To take part in this webinar on October 21, 2011: Open your internet browser and go to https://nifa-connect.nifa.usda.gov/bfr;Login and you and will be connected to the webinar. Capacity is limited to 100 attendees only.  The proceedings will be saved and posted online. Organizers suggest that you Login to this site (https://nifa-connect.nifa.usda.gov/bfrdp), before October 21st  to check if your computer will work with the USDA/NIFA system.

Your computer will need the following system requirements: Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Home Edition with Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista; Internet Explorer 6+, Netscape Navigator 8.1+, Mozilla Firefox 1.5.03+, Mac OS X v10.4+, or Safari 2.0+; Adobe Flash Player 10; Broadband connection, and a cookies enabled in browser.
