Certificate in Sustainable Farming Apprentice Program, Vermont

Dates: May 31 – November 4, 2011

The University of Vermont is excited to announce the inaugural year of its Farmer Apprentice Program.  The Program is a 5-month long educational training program for aspiring farmers.  It is designed to teach the necessary skills in production, management, marketing and entrepreneurship. This will be accomplished by working alongside current Vermont farmers, management of a sustainable small-scale vegetable operation, and relevant classroom instruction and field trips.Beginning Farmer Program Vermont

In response to the overwhelming interest in a later summer start to our new Farmer Apprentice Program, we have changed the dates for 2011! To make this opportunity available to more stellar students, we will be condensing our 7 month curriculum into 5 months of intensive farming and learning. And, since we have shortened the length of the program, we have also lowered tuition.
New Dates: May 31 – November 4, 2011
New Cost: $4800
Application process: Applications received by May 2 will be given priority. Rolling admissions after that, depending on space.
