Are you a farmer or private forestland owner who practices conservation?
This is the time to sign up for the Conservation Stewardship Program!
CSP is a green payments program where participants receive payments for existing conservation practices as well as new conservation practices during the five year contract. What’s unique about CSP is that all farmers – from CSA farms on a few acres to large grain farms – compete on a level playing field. Last year CSP payments averaged $6,800 per farm. January 21 is the deadline to file a brief application for CSP, and the next opportunity to enroll may not be for another year.
For more details on CSP, check out THIS FACT SHEET.
To sign up for CSP, go to your local NRCS office. You can find your local NRCS office here. And if you would like to see some examples of farmers and private forestland owners who are enrolled, check out these profiles:
If you know farmers who are already practicing conservation, make sure they know about this opportunity!
