CRAFT Field Day – Biodynamic Preparations, Wisconsin

CRAFT FIELD DAY: Biodynamic Preparations - Zinniker Farm, Wisconsin Saturday, September 29, 2012; Starting at 1:30pm, Potluck dinner to follow Location: Zinniker Farm, N7399 Bowers Rd, Elkhorn, WI 53121 Learn to make Biodynamic Preparations. There will be a potluck supper after the field day and a bonfire, if weather conditions allow. Please bring a dish to share and warm work clothes. This event is open to anyone, no RSVP needed.

Farm History: The Zinniker Family Farm was established in 1942 by Max and Matilda Zinniker and is the oldest biodynamic farm on the continent. In 1961, Ruth and Dick Zinniker began working the farm. Now Markus and Petra Zinniker are working the farm.

Farm Description: There are 165 acres to the Zinniker Farm with 120 acres that are tillable and 10 acres of woods. Of the tillable acreage there is 20-25 acres of small grains (oat, wheat, rye, barley), 20 acres of corn, and 60 acres of alfalfa mix for hay and grazing. The remaining land is pasture and waterways. On the farm, pigs and meat chickens are raised. There are also laying hens and dairy cows.
