Entrepreneurial Opportunities Available at Three Rivers Community Farm – 2017

Three Rivers Community Farm is a 10 acre organic vegetable farm located 45 minutes north and east of St. Louis, MO in Elsah, IL. Our mission is to provide a local source of naturally grown food through the practice of sustainable agriculture. We strive to produce good quality, fresh and diverse produce at a fair price. At the same time enriching the soil and nurturing the local ecosystem through sustainable practices free from chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. Three Rivers Community Farm is a place where kids and adults can connect with how, where and who grows their food. The farm was started in 2007 and has grown from 150 CSA members to 300, with members both in Illinois and the St. Louis area. Our CSA is entering its 11th season. We also attend two farmers market and have an on-site farm stand. Amy Cloud and Segue Lara, along with their two children, Diego and Lydia, are the owners of the farm.

We are seeking two individuals or a couple who are interested in entrepreneurial opportunities on our farm long-term. Work on our farm for the first year, learning our operation and exploring possible business opportunities like livestock, cut flowers, value-added, chef-sales, wholesales, additional farmers markets, and then start your own enterprises while working part time on our farm in your second year.

We prefer candidates with at least one year experience organic vegetable farming or pasture livestock farming who want to farm and have a business but don’t want to own their farm or start from the ground up. Quick learner, fast worker, self-motivated, good attitude, good communication and people skills and enjoys physical work and working outside in all types of weather are all important qualifications for employment at our farm.

Employment begins in mid-March with full time employment through October and possible part time employment up through Christmas. Pay up to $12/hour, based on experience. We do not provide housing; however, there are ample rentals available and we are happy to help you find a good place to live.
