Farm and Ranch Intern in Colorado

Become a Farm and Garden Intern at Sunrise Ranch

Sunrise Ranch, a conscious event and conference center located west of Loveland, Colorado, is currently accepting applications for its Farm and Garden Internship. The 7-month program begins April 14, 2014 but interested candidates may submit applications at any time. The garden emphasizes sustainability, organic farming and permaculture, while the multi-species farm practices holistic management methods in animal husbandry, rotational grazing and livestock management. Interns will receive applicable training and experience while learning about green architecture, permaculture principles and water treatment.

This year, the Farm and Garden will install an additional 15,000 sq. feet of greenhouse space with hydroponics, providing the opportunity for hands-on experience with alternative gardening methods. Interns may also choose to participate in an optional week-long Permaculture Design Course from April 2-11 to supplement their education.

Sunrise Ranch’s internships offer unique resources due to its farm, garden, kitchen and serving infrastructure all on premises. The ranch features an established farm to table program, sending its own produce and animal products to the on-site Culinary Academy for gourmet meal creation. The kitchen frequently serves over 100 persons per meal and tailors the menu to special diets including gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan.

Interns enjoy a work-trade agreement that includes housing, internet, laundry, meals, and a $250 monthly stipend throughout the growing and harvest season. The 360-acre property provides easy access to hiking trails as well as Loveland, Fort Collins and Estes Park.
