Interested in learning about sustainable agriculture practices in vegetable crop growing and livestock management? They are seeking 2 motivated, hard working, productive, reliable individuals who have a strong work ethic and who are dedicated to sustainable practices in farming to do a farm internship program in 2013. The farm grows most vegetables, beef cattle, chickens, turkeys, and pigs. There is a summer CSA program through the retail farmstand with a bakery that incorporates farm produce and a deli as well. Beans & Greens Farm is located in the beautiful Lakes Region area of central NH near the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. The area has a large influx of summer tourists so the farm also has a large agri-tourism draw: animals to visit, festivals, BBQ dinner/dances with live music, large fall corn maze, hay maze, veggie catapult, and a Farm to Table Dinner mid summer. Interns will hopefully enjoy participating in the running of some events.
The internships would be from mid April until the end of October. Both internships are 40-60 hours per week. Experience is preferred. The interns could focus on either vegetable farming or animal care. Housing is on the farm ($75 week) in a nice timber frame cape with full facilities and wireless internet. Compensation is $7.50 hour. Free produce from the farm is provided as is a vehicle for trips to town.
