Farm Internship Apprenticeship or Partnership Opportunity in Pennsylvania

Lodal Creek Farm (https://lodalcreekfarm.com) is a 9 acre diversified small farm & CSA ~45 minutes from downtown Philadelphia surrounded by affluent developments & neighborhoods. We’re seeking to develop a well-integrated relationship of the farm into the neighborhood and become the go to for the immediate neighborhoods surrounding us for farm products and visits. We’ve just won our first major employer-based CSA pickup with the largest employer in the township for 2018, and have generated quite a bit of engagement and excitement from our website which is still under development but went live in October. The farm is well-funded for equipment, land and supplies, and the location could not possibly be better as it’s on the way to the grocery store for many residents and immediately across from the elementary, middle and high school combined campus for the local school district.

Farm Internship Apprenticeship or Partnership Opportunity: I’m seeking for an outstanding, motivated person with at least one season of vegetable farm experience and a commitment to making a career out of farming to come onto the farm in 2018 and help develop and grow the farm & business to support a 300 member CSA, along with farm stand sales over the next 3-4 years. The ideal person would be ready in 3-4 years to take 80% of the farm’s Vegetable CSA subscriptions to buy and develop their own small farm in the nearby area, leaving Lodal Creek Farm space to grow and develop our medicinal herb, herbal tea and cut flower business and CSA memberships. A stipend/salary is available, and is negotiable based upon experience and potential, along with housing in a 26-foot very nice travel trailer if necessary. The farm regularly hires additional outside help and hosts WWOOF interns to help with farm labor. Substantial equipment investment is available from the farm owner as well. Our present intent is to purchase a raised bed plastic mulch layer prior to the beginning of the 2018 season and continue with our current equipment, adding advanced irrigation throughout the 2018 season. Our proximity to Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs results in terrific access to all possible cultural activities and events, parks, recreation and lifestyles.

To apply for the Farm Internship Apprenticeship or Partnership position, please send a letter of introduction with your reasons for wanting to farm, your 5-year outlook, and any questions you have along with your resume and 3 letters of reference to lodalcreekfarm@gmail.com
