Finding Available Farmland for Beginning Farmers, Pilot Project

Recently the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project has been pilot-testing a new project aimed at finding more available farmland for beginning farmers using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and by reaching out to the owners of the potential farmland by working with the town and their Agricultural Commission.

New Entry is currently working with the town of Groton, MA and will be reaching out to other surrounding towns soon.  In addition, we are planning a landowner information session on making land available to a beginning farmer that will held be in early November in Groton.  For more about our farmland research or to read a town farmland and GIS report, please e-mail New Entry’s Farmland Matching Coordinator, Becca Weaver at bweaver@comteam.org.

  1. I own various sizes of land from 5 acres to 160 acres. How do I find goat farmers?
