Harvest Manager Job and Internships in Louisiana

Farm Field in LouisianaInglewood Farm is located in Central Louisiana, just south of Alexandria. Thanks to our location in the center of Louisiana, Inglewood Farm can offer our customers throughout the state truly local products.

Harvest Manager Job for 2015 (Minimum 2 years of experience; Ability to speak Spanish). Internships available as well.

Responsibilities include:

  • All aspects of harvest and post-harvest handling of organic vegetables, bramble fruits, microgreens, and edible flowers for market and wholesale sales.

  • Monitoring/ maintaining coolers; Maintaining records of harvests, inventories, sanitation, etc.; Maintenance of harvest supply inventory; Develop weekly harvest sheets, CSA share contents, wholesale and market availabilities; Implement quality control standards and cold chain protocols; Communicate effectively with employees, interns, volunteers and management team; Effective management of harvest crew throughout day and ability to delegate tasks and keep morale up while working at a safe, fast, and efficient pace; Communicate with field manager any quality/maintenance issues that affect produce quality and storage; Communication with wholesale and market managers to fulfill orders and maintain high quality standards; Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements—Education, Training, Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Horticulture or related field.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in organic production and management.

  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to produce accurate cost analysis for harvest supplies, food safety training, wash station upgrades, etc.

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Communication skills in Spanish a must.

  • Ability to perform strenuous repetitive tasks, lift up to 50-lbs to shoulder height.

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

  • Proven ability to manage employees and volunteers.

  • Desire to work in an educational capacity with volunteers, school groups, the public.

  • Desire/ability to be a key member of the management team.

  • Attention to detail is a must.

Compensation:
This is a full-time, year-round position, commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid time off, access to farm fresh produce, eggs, meats. On-site housing.
