Farming is tough. Are you? If you spend a season at Hermit Creek, you will learn a lot about farming and about yourself as well. The rigors and joys of raising vegetables for market create a unique experience, one that stays with you for life, whether you go on to become a farmer or not. It’s immensely challenging work, but tremendously satisfying too.

Farm positions run April into November and we have both full-time (full season) and part-time (part season) positions available.

Starting pay: Farm Team Member – $10.00/hour. Crew Lead – $12.00/hour. Note that employees also earn additional wages in the form of weekly farm products (typically adds $1/hr. value to your pay).

On farm housing is not available (many of our employees live in Ashland and if you are coming from out of the area, we can help connect you with potential house mates).

Desirable skills include:

  • being in good physical shape,
  • hand labor and/or food service experience,
  • ability to work both “on-your-own” and in a team setting,
  • personal time management,
  • attention to detail,
  • record keeping,
  • ability to follow detailed instructions,
  • quality control management.

And the ability to smile when dirty, bug bit, sun scorched and wet are great assets too!

Successful candidates will work side-by-side with owner-farmers Landis and Steven assisting with all aspects of the Hermit Creek Farm operation including:

  • greenhouse and high tunnel work,
  • transplanting, weeding, and cultivation,
  • harvest, packing, and delivery,
  • record keeping,
  • irrigation, hay making, fencing, etc.

Emphasis is on getting things done efficiently, safely, and with quality in mind.

Hermit Creek Farm strives to be inclusive, create positive change, and have fun while getting a lot of work done growing clean, healthy, organic food. If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, we would like to talk to you.
