Internship Announcement Communications Intern - Ecological Farming Association Background The Ecological Farming Association (EcoFarm), based in Watsonville, CA, is recruiting a Communications Intern. The EcoFarm Communications Intern will assist the Communications Specialist in developing and executing integrated, compelling, and creative communications and outreach efforts in order to increase awareness of EcoFarm's projects, events and initiatives, to position EcoFarm as a valuable resource in nurturing healthy and just farms, food systems, communities and environment.

General responsibilities include:

  • Research of News Headlines, Google Alerts, and Affiliate List-Servs for EcoFarm Topics
  • Media Contact Updates
  • Website Support
  • Postings to EcoFarm Blogs
  • Constant Contact Emailing, List Updates
  • Placements on EcoFarm Facebook Page and Twitter
  • Organization and Collection of Event Announcements
  • Updates to EcoFarm Communications Calendar
  • Basic Desktop Publishing


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously
  • Good communication skills
  • Dependable and responsible
  • Ability to take initiative and collaborate with others
  • An interest in organic and sustainable farming
  • Desire to learn


Desired

  • Major or experience in Communications, New Media, Marketing, Public Relations or Journalism
  • Experience working with MAC OS X
  • Knowledge of Desktop Publishing Software (Adobe Creative Suite 3) and design experience
  • Knowledge of Website Content Management Systems (Expression Engine)
  • Knowledge of Database Management Software (FileMaker Pro)
  • Sense of humor


This Internship in Unpaid
Hours are 15 – 20 per week, length of internship is negotiable with a minimum of 3 months. We will work with your College or University so that you may earn school credit for this internship. We will also offer this intern a free 2010 EcoFarm Conference <https://www.eco-farm.org/efc> .
