This is a key management position for our farm and finding the right match to fill this position is important to the future and continuation plan for our farm. The individual who fills this position will work closely with Richard (our founder and Farm Manager) to learn all aspects of managing the farm with particular attention to field and production areas. This individual needs to have a basic understanding of organic farming principles and concepts, experience with farm machinery and implements, experience managing people, ability to see “the big picture” and be a forward thinker. Keen observation and attention to details are also important skills we are looking for. Two years of farming experience is not enough to manage this farm from the start of employment, however we are willing to train an individual who does have a minimum of 2 years farming experience, is serious about a farming career, is looking for a long term career investment, and possesses the innate qualities and characteristics mentioned above. In this position, you will assist with the planning and management of field operations including soil nutrition management, cover cropping, planting, weed control & cultivation, disease prevention and management, composting and maintaining surrounding field areas. Work will involve planning as well as execution of the plan, record keeping, and management of crew members. You will be an integral part of the management team and will work with other areas of the farm to manage and coordinate operations. This is a year-round, full-time position.
