Job: EarthWorks Urban Farm Outreach Coordinator, Detroit

Position: EarthWorks Urban Farm Outreach Coordinator Location: Meldrum Kitchen, Detroit Start Date: Early February Application Deadline: Jan. 31, 2011 The Earthworks Outreach Coordinator will exemplify the values of this Ministry in the performance of his/her responsibilities. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for building relationships and engaging the community in building a movement for food sovereignty.  This position coordinates volunteers and serves as the office/workspace manager.  The position also facilitates outreach through tours and speaking engagements and also works collaboratively with the youth educator and youth coordinator, with other CSK staff and outside agencies.

Skills needed

High school diploma with some post secondary education preferred

Experience in community organizing and leadership development preferred

Awareness of food systems/food sovereignty movement preferred

Experience in administration (answering phone calls, filing, and emailing), volunteer coordination, and public speaking preferred,

Strong customer service and communication skills

Strong attention to detail

Valid Michigan Driver’s License required

Michigan Chauffer’s License preferred

Working in gardens in the weather variances of the State of Michigan (heat & rain in spring and summer and cold in winter); exposure to soil, organic soil & plant pest control materials

Job Grade:            11                        Beginning Salary Range:            $13 – $17 per hour
