Latest 2012 Farm Bill Update

Latest 2012 Farm Bill Update from the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition:

— The latest farm bill blog post:  https://sustainableagriculture.net/blog/farm-bill-not-now-maybe-later/

— Rep Braley (D-IA) has filed a discharge petition in an attempt to get the House farm bill on the floor. It needs 218 signatures to happen – this is unlikely, so we’re not making a big push, but if you want to call and include this ask in your advocacy, you can.

— It appears the House is whipping a 3-month farm bill extension along with a 1-year extension option. They appear unlikely to go anywhere, but we’re watching closely and will let you know quickly if things change.

— From another report today, on House and Senate schedules: “The House is scheduled to be in session Wednesday through Friday of next week, out the week of September 24, and back in session October 1 to 5. But with the Senate gone, it seems likely House members will also leave Washington at the end of next week until after the November 6 elections. Both chambers are scheduled to return on November 13 for the lame duck session.”

This means if you have not yet CALLED, SENT ALERTS, or otherwise TAKEN ACTION – there is still time!
