  1. The Michigan Boer Goat Assocaition is an organization of good folks raisnig meat goats. If there are beginning farmers out there considering goats, call up a member in your neighborhood-the member directory is on website- and talk to them, go visit their farm. Those of us who raise goats love to talk about them and we all remember what it was like as a beginner. There are some pitfalls that we “old-timers” may be able to help you avoid and lots of rewards we won’t want you to miss!

  2. https://roostershamblin.wordpress.com/ would you please spend a few minutes checking out my blog. I am a farmer who has been raising over 50 breeds of chickens for the past forty years.

    • Hi there,

I’m totally sold. Your blog posts are absolutely fantastic. You obviously know your stuff inside and out, and I’d love to feature your blog on http://www.beginningfarmers.org. First I would like to add a link to your blog to the ‘sites we like’ list, as well as to the ‘Start Raising Chickens Page’ https://beginningfarmers.org/information-about-raising-chickens/

But I am a little confused about the Blog title. I know it’s new, and that you are probably still working on it, but when one goes to the site, the title appears to be ‘Selecting Your Chicken Breed’, which is fine except that the posts are filled with information about many extremely interesting topics that have nothing to do with selecting a breed. Is that really the title you want, or should I simply call the site Rooster Shamblin, or something else?

I would also like to invite you to write a guest post on beginningfarmers.org. This post would of course have to be somewhat related to beginning farmers – but the way in which that is done I would leave up to you. It could be about selecting a breed, the story of your long history raising chickens, a piece about how chickens can add value to a new farm operation, or something more general, or abstract. It can be as long or short as you want, just make sure to mention your site so that the post can help direct people there This might be a good way for you to promote your blog, since I get 400-500 visitors a day, and only a small percentage of them will look at the ‘Sites We Like’ list or the ‘Start Raising Chickens’ page, but the vast majority of them will look at the blog, which is the home page.

Please let me know what to call your site in my links, and let me know if you’d like to do a guest post. Again, I love your site. Thanks for getting in touch, and for making me aware of it.

      Taylor Reid
