News Hour Story on Food Deserts – Links, Video Clip Available

PBS News Hour recently did a story on the concept of food deserts and showcased the Mississippi Delta, where they point out that the rich farmland is in large commercial farming operations that grow commodity crops (soy and corn). But –  there is no healthy food for the people to purchase unless they can drive 20 miles to a large supermarket or the Wal-Mart.  It ends with the positive work going on in teaching people how to garden, encouraging farmers markets, and reinventing a local food system.  For links and a video clip visit the ag law blog.
