No Till Vegetable Production Workshop in Virginia

The Fauquier Education Farm Workshop Series in Virginia – No Till Vegetable Production Using Spring Planted Cover Crops

JUNE 7TH, 2014, 6 TO 8 PM

THIS WORKSHOP WILL BE AT THE FAUQUIER EDUCATION FARM: 8396 MEETZE RD., WARRENTON, VA. 20186

The Fauquier Education Farm has partnered with Va. Tech and The Va. Department of Conservation Resources to grow vegetables using No Till or reduced tillage practices. This demonstration will show how farmers and gardeners can use cover crops to grow their own nitrogen fertilizer, smother weeds and reduce the use of herbicides. We will show a wide variety of vegetables planted into our plots of Spring Oats and Field Peas. This production method can greatly reduce soil run off as well as decrease dependence on chemical fertilizer and herbicide use. Soil health is vital to crop health and this is an excellent way to build your soil.
