Primrose Valley Farm is an 83 acre farm in the driftless region of south central Wisconsin, just 19 miles southwest of Madison and minutes from the Swiss Village of New Glarus.  This growing, certified organic, 250+ member CSA also supplies Chicago area restaurants and has a event/ community center, complete with a commercial kitchen.  The farm hosts Festivals and U-picks during the course of the season, and provides educational opportunities through its camp and school group programing. The farm is involved in community outreach and supplies food pantries throughout the season. 100 acre diversified historic farm: Hyde Park, Duchess County,  New York

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and resourceful market gardener to design and manage a new 3/4-acre organic market garden operation, including greenhouse and cold frames, on a beautiful Hudson Valley estate. This is a salaried position, produce grown will go to a restaurant in the city.

We’re looking for someone with at least three years experience in planning and running an intensive, Eliot Coleman-style vegetable operation. Because of the historic nature of the estate, it is important for the garden to be both productive, and attractive with flowers and thoughtful design.

Agency Mission Statement: Fondy Food Center connects Greater Milwaukee to local, fresh food – from farm to table. We do this through 1) Support of small-scale Wisconsin farmers to secure the supply of fresh food to Milwaukee; 2) Cooking-based nutrition education for youth and adults; and 3) Filling the need for fresh, locally grown food in Milwaukee’s North Side neighborhoods through a historic farmers market tradition.

Greenhouse Manager

Cityscape Farms grows fresh produce in greenhouses throughout the urban landscape to create sustainable local food economies and combat global warming. We are working on developing a network of hydroponic greenhouse farms serving the Bay Area. These farms will be located in underutilized parts of the urban landscape, specifically rooftops and vacant lots.

We are seeking an innovative, strong leader to manage day-­to-­day operations and help expand greenhouse business opportunities. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys hands-­on growing activities with expertise in all aspects of crop production including purchasing supplies, propagation, potting, fertilizing, watering, pest and disease management practices, and maintaining environmental controls. Other duties consist of business development & marketing, hiring and managing grower staff, providing customer service, implementing inventory control, and ensuring the upkeep of equipment and facilities.

A flexible work schedule to include some weekends is required. Position also requires extensive knowledge of hydroponic plant production (vine and leaf crops) and personnel management skills with proven ability to be self-­motivated. Experience with organics and USDA certification a plus (we seek to become a certified organic hydroponic grower).

Requirements:

-­A bachelor’s degree in horticulture or a related field

-­At least five years of experience as a nursery/greenhouse worker

-­Expertise with hydroponics/aquaponics including drip, ebb-­and-­flow, and NFT systems, as well as HID lighting configurations
