There are only 10 days left to nominate a sustainable food producer, business leader, researcher or young food hero for NRDC’s Growing Green Awards.
These national awards recognize food leaders across the country who are transforming the future of food. NRDC will award $15,000 in prizes, including $5,000 in the new Young Food Leader category. Winners will be selected by an expert panel of judges: Author Michael Pollan, chef Dan Barber, author and activist Maria Rodale, and UC Davis professor Dr. Tom Tomich.

Glynwood, an organization whose mission is to ‘save farming in the Northeast’ is calling for nominations for its eighth annual Harvest Awards. The Awards recognizes farmers, organizations, and businesses across the United States that demonstrates innovation and leadership in support of regional agriculture and sustainable food systems.
This year’s categories include:
• The Glynwood Harvest Farmer Award
• The Glynwood Harvest Award for Connecting Communities, Farmers and Food
• The Glynwood Harvest Wave of the Future Award
• The Glynwood Harvest Good Food for Health Award

June 9th, 2010 – From The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition
Today USDA announced that it is seeking nominations for its research advisory board, the National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education, and Economics Advisory Board (NAREEEAB). The 25-member Advisory Board provides recommendations to the Secretary on food and agriculture research, extension, education, and economics. The Board also consults directly with congressional agriculture committees and agricultural appropriations subcommittees.
Members are appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture. Terms are for 3 years. Individuals from organizations, associations, societies, universities, councils, federations, groups, and companies from a range of agricultural and food interests can be nominated. Read more »
