I LOVE this idea. The opportunity to Visit Maine Farms during their Open Farm Day is fantastic, and I wish more states would start doing this.
It’s a great chance for people to see where their food comes from, and experience a little bit of what farm life is like. Hope folks in the Northeast will pass this along, and take advantage of the opportunity to visit different farms, so that this kind of thing catches on. – TR
On Sunday July 24, 2011 Maine farms will be open to the public. Word has it that over 100 farms have signed up. You can find more information on this site: http://www.getrealmaine.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/calendar.detail/event_id/44/index.htm
Visit a farm and see what farm life is all about. Watch farm activities and demonstrations from milking to felting; pet farm animals, pick berries, tour a barn or go on a hay ride. There will be farm-raised products for sale, displays to see and samples to taste.
