Webinar: In Every Community A Place for Food

With Nick Saul and Matt Galloway, Apr 6, 2011 12-1pm EST

Since its beginning as one of North America’s first food banks, The Stop Community Food Center (https://www.thestop.org/) has transformed into a vibrant community centre in one of Toronto’s lowest-income, most diverse neighbourhoods.  We engage thousands of people per year in growing, cooking, accessing, advocating for and learning about healthy food. Among the programs offered are community kitchens and gardens, cooking classes, healthy drop-in meals, peri-natal support programs, a food bank, outdoor bake ovens, food markets, and civic engagement programs.

Earlier this year, The Stop announced that it is working with local partners to create two new Community Food Centres in Ontario. At the same time, we’re getting ready to launch a new learning network and set the stage for creating CFCs across the nation and world.

Are you interested in learning about this new movement? Wondering how you & your community can get involved? On April 6th, tune in at your computer for a one-hour Interview and Q&A with CBC Radio Host Matt Galloway and The Stop’s Executive Director Nick Saul as they discuss this exciting new initiative.

Registration is required and limited to 100 people. To register, please go to https://thestopevents.webex.com or contact Elizabeth Fraser at Elizabeth@thestop.org for more information.
