Accepting Applications for St. Louis Organic Farming Apprenticeship Program

EarthDance in St. Louis is now accepting applications for its 2011 Organic Farming Apprenticeship Program. Basic information is due Tuesday, November 30th. EarthDance, an educational farm located in Ferguson, MO, is currently accepting applications for the 2011 season of their Organic Farming Apprenticeship program.  The apprenticeship is an opportunity for St. Louis area residents to learn how to grow food organically on a real working farm, close to home.  EarthDance has created a cooperative learning and working environment well-suited for individuals who want to gain practical organic farming skills on a part-time basis. Apprentices, or “Freshman Farmies,” commit to a total of 10 hours (minimum) per week to field walks, on-farm enrichment sessions and workshops, farm and market labor. *About EarthDance*

EarthDance is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to grow and inspire local FARMS: Food, Art, Relationships & Music Sustainably. EarthDance farms at the historic Mueller Organic Farm in Ferguson, MO. EarthDance recently completed its second year of operating a season-long educational apprenticeship program which trains participants in organic farming and gardening from seed propagation to farmers markets. In 2009 EarthDance inaugurated the part-time training program for 12 beginner farmers, and in 2010 expanded the program with 31 apprentices and almost double the acreage  to grow more local, organic food and farmers for the St. Louis region. The 2011 season will mark further expansion of our farmer training program, as well as the public launch of EarthDance’s CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).
