EXCERPT: Jane Eckert said the growing trend involving cooking meals at home and buying fresh should be seen a positive to farmers. Eckert made the comments at the national convention of the American Agri-Women. “The local food movement I would say has become the biggest trend so far that is compelling what we’re doing,” said Eckert, whose family operates one of the largest agri-tourism farms in Illinois. “People are buying local food, and they’re recognizing that it’s better for them.”
