Center For Rural Affairs Organizing Internship

The Center for Rural Affairs is seeking an intern to work with our organizing staff to support rural communities, small business owners, family farmers and rancher. This position will primarily focus on issues related to health care, renewable energy and clean energy transmission.

The position is located in our office in Lyons, Nebraska. We are seeking applicants able to join us for a period of at least three months during the fall of 2011. Starting dates are flexible, though preference will be given to those who can start between August 15 and September 15. The position is paid, and we will help locate housing if needed.

This position will work with our policy organizing staff on grassroots outreach, organizational network building and communications in support of our work, and will participate fully in several public policy advocacy efforts of a nationally known non-profit organization.

Ideal candidates will have at least some college education (a college degree or graduate work preferred), be a strong writer and communicator, and be comfortable with technology and unfamiliar computer programs. Research skills a plus, a penchant for reading Ezra Klein will be smiled upon.
