Beginning Farmer Discussion – CISA Invites Beginning Farmers to Bring Ideas for Future

CISA is calling all beginning farm owners and managers! If you have taken ownership of a farm or stepped into a principal farm manager role between 2006 and 2018, or if you are an aspiring farm operator, please join us at one of our Beginning Farmer Discussion Focus Groups.

CISA is looking for feedback on how we can continue to support and help you. For 25 years, farmers turned to CISA for support in sustaining their business and mission, seeking answers to their questions, and providing information to see an idea or opportunity through. We want to continue providing that for the next 25 years – and evolve with your needs and your ideas!

We are holding beginning farmer discussion focus groups in two locations to inform how CISA farmer support programming will look in the coming years. We need to hear about your experiences, successes, unmet needs, and requests to continually evolve as farm business assistance providers.

You can RSVP to either of the two beginning farmer discussion events by clicking on their details below. Dinner will be served at both events.

Tuesday, November 13th, 5:00-7:00pm: North Hadley Sugar Shack, 181 River Drive, Hadley MA

Wednesday, November 14th, 5:00-7:00pm: Rural Commonwealth, 49 Conway Street, Shelburne Falls, MA

CISA is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. We began this work 25 years ago, and thousands of people in our region have contributed to our success and impact. More than 250 farms participate in our programs, and the number of residents who are committed to supporting local agriculture grows every day. Our Be a Local Hero, Buy Locally Grown® program, the longest-running agricultural buy-local campaign in the country, connects farmers and the community, improving farm business viability and enhancing the quality of life for residents across the region. Additional programs include Senior FarmShare, technical assistance for farms and food businesses, and research and support for local food and farm businesses of all kinds, including processors, distributors, and producers of value-added products like jams, cheeses, and pickles.
