Democrats hit House cuts to ag spending by Philip Brasher, Desmoines Register

EXCERPT: Iowa’s House Democrats are urging the Senate to reject a spending bill that slashes renewable energy, food safety, nutrition assistance and crop insurance. The bill, which was approved by the House Appropriations Committee this week, would reduce spending for the Agriculture Department and Food and Drug Administration by more than 13 percent in the next fiscal year.
