Farm Description Scenic Valley Farms is located just outside of Readstown, Wisconsin.  They specialize in growing organic fruits and vegetables in high tunnel greenhouses.  Our crop mix includes strawberries, blackberries, tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers.  At the moment, we have ten high tunnels in operation and will be adding at least one more this year. Job Description They are looking for full and/or part-time crew members to assist (and possibly supervise) in field, construction, repair, and distribution duties.  The position runs from mid/late March to the end of November with the possibility of year round employment. Field Duties: soil and bed preparation, irrigation and mulch installation, transplanting, erecting trellis systems, trellising, pruning, spraying, weeding, harvesting, grading, packaging, removing crops, recordkeeping and other duties as needed

Construction and Repair Duties: construct high tunnels (installing hoops, plastic, end walls, irrigation systems, etc.), construct solar thermal systems within high tunnels (excavating trenches, laying tubing, installing fans and pumps, etc.), conduct repairs and modifications to high tunnels, equipment, and facilities.

Distribution Duties: Potentially the employee will be required to make deliveries to the Twin Cities/Madison using a pickup truck and enclosed trailer.

Qualifications

The candidate should have experience in commercial organic fruit and vegetable production, tractor operation, fieldwork, and pest and disease management. Dedication, self-motivation, a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and good communication skills are also necessary.

Applicants must be prepared for physical labor and working in a variety of temperature conditions.

Ideally the candidate should have previous high tunnel/greenhouse experience.  Additional experience with irrigation installation, electrical wiring, and general handyman duties is a big plus.

Rate of Pay

Pay is competitive and based on experience
