THE FARM: The famous Rock House was originally built in 1912, on farmland that ran uninterrupted from Western North Carolina all the way to the Carolina coast. Shadowed by Table Rock and Brown Mountain, the farm is now 400 acres, with Pisgah National Forest to the North and the scenic Johns River and Wilsons Creek bordering the property on the South.

We sell Wagyu premium beef, English heritage breed pork, French heritage lamb and pastured poultry, alll raised naturally on GMO-Free grains without hormones, subtheraputic antibiotics, or other synthetic inputs. We truly care about how the food we eat is produced, cared for, handled and the sustainability of our farm with regards to the land it occupies and the community around it. Our aim is to supply sustainable, environmentally sound and healthy food to our family, friends, and community while taking serious the responsibility for our land, plants and animals in a holistically managed way.

YOUR JOB WOULD BE TO: Help handle daily chores and work on side projects to improve farm infrastructure. Help sell at the Saturday Farmers’ Market in Morganton.

Chores consist of moving animals, grinding feed, feeding pigs and poultry. The farm is in a growth and development phase so there are other projects such as fencing, pasture expansion, and building that will be on the to-do list.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL: Be friendly, motivated, and forward-thinking. Be passionate about sustainable agriculture and have a desire to learn more. Have some animal experience. Have some tractor operation experience. Have a valid US drivers’ license. Have a good attitude. Be flexible and willing to take on any job.

COMPENSATION:

On –Farm Housing, including utilities

Monthly Stipend, starting at $500, with a $25 raise each month upon good review, paid on the 15th and the 30th.

1 week paid vacation, (dates depend on other farm employee off-time)

Season end bonus, (floods, drought, disasters permitting)
