Rivendale Farms is a diversified farm in Bulger, Pennsylvania just outside of Pittsburgh. In addition to several acres in orchards and mixed vegetable production, the farm is home to a variety of livestock including cattle, chickens, pigs, bison, and elk.

Farm Job in Pennsylvania

We are looking for a full-time year-round employee to report to our Vegetable Production and Fruit Production Managers.

Responsibilities will include:

• Variable seasonal tasks related to vegetable and fruit production including seeding, transplanting, weeding, pruning, trellising, and harvesting with special emphasis on following proper food safety protocols
• Weekly washing and packing of eggs and produce for delivery
• Become proficient in using on-farm software to manage weekly customer orders and inventory, communicating with customers as needed
• Weekly delivery of produce boxes to customers in greater Pittsburgh area
• Become proficient in the daily operation of newly installed hydroponic growing system (NFT table for lettuce and dutch buckets for tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, and raspberries)
• Support daily field work in 1/4 acre in-ground greenhouse, in addition to traditional outdoor field crops and orchards

Requirements:

• All applicants should be comfortable around livestock (including chickens, pigs, Great Pyrenees dogs, and cattle) and large machinery
• Able to stand for extended periods of time
• Able to lift 80lbs.
• Able to work in all weather conditions, and work on a ladder as needed.
• Able to work weekends and holidays as needed (you will always have 2 days off per week, consecutively whenever possible)

*We are looking for a candidate who is reliable, punctual, able to work without supervision, as well as part of a team, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Previous experience in crop production and operation of various farm equipment is preferred but not required.*

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8 Hours
