Atlas Farm is a 55-acre diversified vegetable farm located in Deerfield, Massachusetts.  They grow certified organic produce and plants and are currently in their ninth year of operation. They market their produce in Western Massachusetts and the Boston area through wholesale, farmers’ markets, and a CSA program. Farmers’ Market Manager: The Farmers’ Market Manager is responsible for overseeing activities of our year-round farmers’ markets including three weekly main season markets in western Mass. and Boston , in addition to local winter markets.

Duties include: managing farmers’ market staff of 4-6 people, preparing for weekly markets, coordinating with the farm manager and wholesale manager for harvest and packing of crops for direct markets, communicating with market managers and customers through a weekly newsletter and email, maintaining market equipment and supplies, extensive record keeping, and developing innovative marketing strategies and displays.  Applicants should have experience with farmers’ markets, a strong background in managing employees, excellent communication skills and an aptitude for record keeping.  Creative experience with sign making, woodworking, and writing is also desired.  This is a management oriented position requiring close attention to detail and a lot of forward planning.  The farm is very focused on expanding our direct marketing initiatives in the coming years and we are looking for someone who would like to participate in growing this piece of the farm with us.  This is a year-round position requiring up to 60 hours per week during the main season (April-November) and decreasing to 20-30 hours per week from December-March and is well-suited to someone looking for a job with long-term potential.  Compensation is commensurate with experience.  To apply, please email a cover letter and resume to <gideon@atlasfarm.com> or mail to Atlas Farm  635 River Rd.  Deerfield, MA  01342.

Field Production Manager: The Field Production Manager is responsible for overseeing field crop production including field preparation, planting, cultivation, pest and disease control, and other cultural practices.  This position is heavily focused on equipment work and applicants should have a minimum of 3 years experience operating tractors and other farm equipment, specifically in vegetable production.  Applicants should also have an aptitude for record keeping, calculating for fertilizer and pest control applications, trouble shooting equipment, and communicating with others.  The Field Production Manager works very closely with the farm owner and the rest of the farm management staff and requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to muti-task and ability to adapt quickly to the ever changing farm environment.  This is a year-round position requiring up to 60 hours per week during the main season (April-November) and decreasing to 20-30 hours per week from December-March and is well-suited to someone looking for a job with long-term potential.  Compensation is commensurate with experience.  To apply, please email a cover letter and resume to <gideon@atlasfarm.com> or mail to Atlas Farm  635 River Rd.  Deerfield, MA  01342.

Wholesale and Packing House Manager: The Wholesale and Packing House Manager is responsible for overseeing the farm’s wholesale accounts and all packing house activities.  Wholesale is the primary marketing outlet for the farm and this is a critical position in the overall farm operation.

Duties include: communicating with wholesale customers via phone and email; establishing availability lists and distributing them to customers; compiling orders and creating invoices daily; creating daily harvest lists and coordinating harvests with crew leaders and other farm management; managing all crop packing in our main packing house and managing a packing house crew of 3-10 people; maintaining all packing house supplies and equipment including walk-in coolers and off-site crop storage; and coordinating all deliveries and pick-ups including supervising our full-time delivery driver.  This position requires strong organizational skills, experience in handling produce in a wholesale environment (specifically vegetable crops), a familiarity with field production techniques, strong management skills, and excellent communication skills.  This is a very public position for the farm and is our primary representative to our customer base.  This is a year-round position requiring up to 60 hours per week during the main season (April-November) and decreasing to 20-30 hours per week from December-March and is well-suited to someone looking for a job with long-term potential.  Compensation is commensurate with experience.  To apply, please email a cover letter and resume to <gideon@atlasfarm.com> or mail to Atlas Farm  635 River Rd.  Deerfield, MA  01342.
