High Hope Farm is a Grass-Fed Beef and Lamb Farm In Mississippi. They are Looking for Interns for the 2018 Season.
High Hope Farm is a small but vibrant farm in the prairie country of northeast Mississippi, near the village of Cedar Bluff in Clay County, MS. We are currently looking for a farm resident to work with us in our “naturally raised, gently tended” grass-fed beef and lamb operation over the next 12 -18 months. We are committed to sustainable and regenerative farming practices, especially intensive rotational and adaptive grazing without the use of hormones, steroids, antibiotics, commercial fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and other chemical inputs.
High Hope Farm offers a monthly stipend of $300, a $50 monthly food allowance, comfortable and adequate housing for a single person along with plenty of healthy farm grown meat, vegetables and fruits. As the work is part time (15-20 hours per week), we will also provide for the selected applicant additional opportunities (along with the needed resources and support) to earn extra income on his\her own initiative with bees, herbs, vegetables, mushrooms, chickens, other small ruminants, etc. The position is for 12-18 months with the possibility of extending for a longer period of time. Some animal husbandry experience and\or mechanical skills are helpful but not required. A strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, a commitment to sustainable and regenerative farm practices, and honesty and dependability are essential. A valid driver’s licenses is also imperative. In addition to working along side the current owners, there are ample educational opportunities available from the local extension service, the nearby state land grant college of agriculture and regional sustainable agricultural organizations.
