Homesteading Festival in West Virginia

The WOODLANDS HOMESTEADING FESTIVAL hosted by THE MOUNTAIN INSTITUTE near Spruce Knob,West Virginia will be held this OCTOBER 1ST AND 2ND, 2011.  

The festival will include workshops on wild HERBALISM, FERMENTATION, BIOCHAR, bio-diesel, grassroots cartography, community FOOD SECURITY, BEE-KEEPING, GOAT-MILKING for kids, KNIFE-MAKING, peddle-power grain grinding,  and more!  Will be screening THE GREENHORNS, a documentary about young farmers across the nation.

Look forward to live music and square dancing, a LOCAL FARM DINNER and camping on a high elevation preserve.  Appalachian ethnobotanist Mimi Hernandez will be teaching a workshop similar to
her Appalachian Roots! series and esteemed craftsman Rev. Charles McRaven will also be teaching that weekend!
