Internship at EverGood Farm in Wisconsin

Farm HoophousePOSITION IS FILLED, THANK YOU EverGood Farm in Rhinelander, Wisconsin is offering a farm internship for the 2014 season.  EverGood Farm is a 5 acre vegetable farm growing vegetables for its 100 member CSA, two weekly farmers markets and wholesale.  The farm is run entirely by owners Jenny and Brendan Tuckey, with whom the intern would work closely with and be involved in all aspects of the farm. EverGood Farm is a cooperative workplace where your feedback, observations and requests will be valued and respected.  They are a young farm and understand that everyday is a learning experience for everyone.  They work safely, with efficiency, and with the utmost care, enjoy having meals together when the time allows. They believe that their farm exists as much for its educational value to the community as for the food it produces.  They welcome volunteers throughout the season as well as one full season, full time, apprentice.  Please contact them for volunteer opportunities or see below for the full internship position. POSITION IS FILLED, THANK YOU

Preferred Start Date: a commitment of Mid May-Mid October with a minimum commitment of 4 months.

Hours: Generally 40-50 hours per week with occasional weekends.

Wage: This is a stipend position and will also include housing, and vegetables.

Skills Desired: Prior gardening/farming experience is preferred but not essential.  The intern must show a strong interest in enthusiasm for local, sustainable agriculture, a strong work ethic, ability to do physically demanding work, the ability to work well alone or with others, and customer service skills.  Apprentices will be doing varied work including markets, packing CSA boxes, harvesting, washing, seeding, transplanting and much more.  While most of the education will take place throughout their daily tasks working along side the owners, they will also set aside some time for the intern to learn more about what they are interested in.  They are alway happy to answer questions and talk more about any topic.

Housing: The intern will be expected to live on the farm in a newly built garage apartment.  They will have their own kitchen and bathroom in the apartment.

The rhythm of the farm varies with the seasons.  The days can be long and there are often more tasks to complete than time available.  This is not a job for someone who is uncomfortable around hard work.  They work hard, but they have fun.  There are many lakes in the area with great swimming, as well as hiking trails to enjoy on your time off.

They enjoy the experience of opening up their home and work life to people who want to learn about sustainable agriculture and contribute to their community.  Although it can get pretty hectic at times they always appreciate a new set of hands, a fresh perspective, and the good times and fun that their apprentices bring

*Couples are welcome to apply and arrangements can be made for hours and stipend*

  1. Hello,

I am looking for work at the time being. I am a recent college graduate who is interested in organic farming, and have had a large garden for 3 years now.

What are the qualifications for this position?

    Thank you,

    Colin Quinn
