Job Announcement: Part-Time Farmer in Maryland, 2013

Part-time sustainable farming position currently available at Heathcote Community, a 48-year old intentional community dedicated to promoting permaculture. Heathcote is nestled in a beautiful wooded valley with a stream on the state border ½ hour from Baltimore and York, PA. Manage farming our ½ acre garden and large high tunnel (96’ x 24’) in order to feed our 20 resident community members. Train and supervise interns and volunteers and, if desired, assist with Heathcote’s permaculture workshops. Delicious organic vegetarian meals and housing in the community are offered in exchange for 20-25 work hours weekly, with an option to apply for community membership. Non-residential options may also be possible. Qualifications include organic farming experience, excellent problem-solving skills, reliable and responsible work habits, and the ability to work both independently and cooperatively.
