Job: Project Coordinator, Florida Organic Growers

Position: Project Coordinator Type: Full Time Location: Gainesville, Florida Compensation: $30-35k annually commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package Florida Organic Growers, a non-profit located in Gainesville since 1989, seeks a Project Coordinator for its Education and Outreach Program. Florida Organic Growers' Education and Outreach Program focuses on promoting organic agriculture and healthy and just food systems through a variety of projects. Position is based in Gainesville, which in 2007 was ranked No. 1 in Frommer's 'Cities Ranked and Rated,' No. 3 on NuWire Investor's list of the 'Top 10 Small College Towns for Investment' and one of the '50 Best Places to Live and Play' according to National Geographic Adventure Magazine. Gainesville is situated on the I-75 corridor, 85 miles south of the Georgia border, 50 miles east of the Gulf of Mexico and 67 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean. Marking the northern border is the Santa Fe River, part of the freshwater system located in the area that provides numerous springs for year-around enjoyment. 40 hrs exempt. $30-35k annually commensurate with experience. Experience desired:

.         Computer experience, including Windows Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

.         Masters preferred in Horticultural Sciences or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

.         Some travel; good driving record required.

.         Public speaking experience

.         Grant-funded project management experience

.         Knowledge of organic agriculture/farming and National Organic Standards

.         Research experience using various methodologies a plus

.         Self-starter with experience working on projects independently and with a group

Duties:

.         Respond to public inquiries from local gardeners and statewide farmers via email, phone and in person at outreach/tabling events (avg. ~4-6 events/yr. around state).

.         Conduct research for and prepare presentations for reports and presentations, including developing survey instruments, analyzing and reporting on data, and developing visual materials such as slides and posters.

.         Organize workshops for small-scale gardeners to large-scale growers.

.         Provide information to growers and other industry partners about Farm Bill programs, and work with industry partners and policy makers to improve programs. Knowledge of conservation programs a plus.

.         Track grant budgets, deliverables and reporting requirements, and work with staff as needed to submit reports to granting agencies on time

.         Contribute to grant development/writing
