DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES: The Public Relations Coordinator (PRC) prepares and disseminates news and information associated with the Southern SARE program’s goals, objectives, and grant-making efforts. The PRC also coordinates and assists with implementing Southern SARE’s electronic public affairs activities. The PRC also provides significant support to the Southern SARE PDP (Professional Development Program) that is headquartered at the Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture in Oklahoma. The PRC also assists the National SARE outreach and communications efforts by evaluating proposals for publications, writing and/or editing/proofing copy about Southern SARE projects for use in National SARE Outreach publications.

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field and at least three years of related work experience. Professional and personal knowledge of sustainable agriculture is required. Samples of writing are required. Demonstrated proficiency in the basic programs used to produce communications especially EZ Publish for shared content web sites-but also word processing (Word), publishing (Microsoft Publisher/PageMaker), electronic photo processing (Photoshop), presentations (PowerPoint), and database management (Excel). Videotaping/editing and webinar production/hosting are a big plus. Demonstrated ability to communicate information in these forms: feature articles, news articles, brochures, promotional material, fact sheets, publications, or any of the communications materials required for dissemination of information about Southern SARE.
