Jobs available at Education Farm in Massachusetts, 2013 Red Gate Farm in Buckland, MA is hiring a farmer/educator and a kitchen manager.  Red Gate Farm grows children who are hard-working, confident and kind.  It offers programs that connect youngsters with agriculture and the natural world. With over 60 acres of land, there is maple sugaring, beekeeping, mushroom growing, cordwood, seed saving, forests to explore and fields to roam. Students collect eggs, feed our sheep, build trails, and learn by doing as they contribute to the ard work of keeping a farm alive. Red Gate Farm is a special place where meaningful work, laughter, fresh air and a renewed sense of commitment all combine to empower and strengthen individuals. Red Gate Farm is hiring full-time staff members to assist with the development and implementation of new farm programs.  These are unique positions, in that we are seeking exceptional individuals who are both ambitious and hard-working, and want to have a direct role in the shaping of a new farm education program. The following positions are being filled:

FARMER/EDUCATOR – work closely with children on the farm, assist with farm maintenance and operations, develop programming (two positions)

KITCHEN MANAGER – plan menus, purchase food, prepare and cook program food, manage kitchen assistants, develop programming and work closely with children on the farm. (one position)

Employment packages range from $20,000 – $25,000, which includes a $12-15k salary, health insurance, on-site housing and board.  Successful candidates will be ready to begin in June 2013 for at least a one-year commitment, and come with strong references regarding their work with children and ability to work individually and as a team-member, and typically will have a college undergrad degree.  Farming and cooking experiences are all helpful but not required.  All candidates must be prepared to do an on-site interview at Red Gate Farm.
