Livestock Farming Webinars Free from FACT – May 2018

I’m excited to share that FACT (Food Animal Concerns Trust) will be hosting several free livestock farming webinars in May. I’ve include descriptions below – please join us! FACT offers welfare-oriented livestock and poultry farmers a suite of services that are designed to support, empower, and expand humane farming practices. We seek to address some common obstacles facing farmers by providing grants, scholarships, free webinars, and an online community to connect with other farmers. We welcome partnering with you to improve the welfare of food producing animals, while learning from and sharing your expertise.

May 2 @ 1pm EST: Land Access for Livestock Farmers

Overwhelmed by the challenges of accessing farmland? Don’t be. Whether you are a new, beginning or established farmer, this webinar will help you navigate the issues around accessing farmland or a farm property. Jason Silverman with Land For Good will discuss land tenure arrangements, including leasing and owning, as well as provide tips for finding and evaluating a piece of land. > Register

May 15 @ 4pm EST: The Nutritional Benefits of Pasture-Raised Animals

Join us to learn more about the human nutrition benefits that come from raising food animals on grass. Our presenter, Collette Lentz, MS, will discuss the nutritional advantages and the associated human health benefits of pasture-raised animals. > Register

May 30 @ 3pm EST: Building a Forage Chain for Your Livestock
Kent Solberg, Grazing and Livestock Specialist with the Sustainable Farming Association, will discuss options for creating a forage chain by sequencing annual, perennial, and stored forages to feed your ruminant animals in this third of 3 livestock farming webinars. Join us to learn how a well-designed forage chain can offer multiple benefits to your farm – including extending the grazing season and reducing feed costs. > Register
