Local Garden, Urban Farm, Sustainable Food Tour, Michigan

Tour de Fresh 2010 is next Tuesday in Ypsilanti!
July 20th, 5:30-8 pm

Join us for our annual Ypsilanti area garden, urban farm, & sustainable food system tour, sponsored by Transition Town Ypsi, Bike Ypsi, and Growing Hope. Reserve your spot now! Bike the route (helmets & lights required for adults & youth), or go by van or car. Sign-in at 5:30 pm at the Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers’ Market; tour 6-8 pm; light dinner after.  If you’d like to tour the market, arrive earlier– market runs from 2-6 pm.  All ages welcome!

We’ll stop at sites where our neighbors are growing food, including raised beds; bees; chickens, goats and rabbits, teaching children how good food gets from seed to plate; community gardens; a co-op, and possibly some new hospital gardens. We’ll see examples of season extension, including at Growing Hope, where we’ll see the Growing Hope urban farm in full swing.

Light meal when the tour ends at the Growing Hope Center, 922 West Michigan Ave. Docents will lead the tour. This is an amazing, feel-good tour that shows all the good that’s growing in Ypsilanti. A sliding scale donation helps to put on the event – $1-20.

Pre-RSVPs *required* at https://www.growinghope.net/get_involved/events/rsvp — reserve your spot now!
