Michigan Farm Hiring Two Assistant Farmers

 

Sunseed Farm in Michigan is hiring two Assistant Farmers Dates:  Beginning May 1, 2013, continuing at least until October 26, with opportunity for employment through May, 2014. Compensation:  $10/hour starting wage, with raises based on demonstrated skill, diligence, efficiency and initiative. Hours:  40 hours/week Description: The responsibilities of the Assistant Farmer will be to work full-time assisting in running the day-to-day operations of Sunseed Farm, including all tasks involved in year-round vegetable and fruit production and marketing.  The Assistant Farmer will also be expected to attain proficiency in all basic and intermediate farm skills, and will be responsible for some weekend farm upkeep.

Excellent candidates for this position will possess experience and knowledge of organic or ecological vegetable growing, a strong, self-motivating physical work ethic, and a desire to discover the best and most efficient farming methods.  Although all applicants will be considered, preference will be given to candidates who anticipate a desire to work at Sunseed through the Fall of 2014.
