New York Nut Growers Association Spring Meeting

Grow nut trees for healthy food, timber, and even for syrup; grow nut trees on your farm as an additional cash crop at green markets; sell nuts to restaurants and bakeries.

Come to the spring meeting of the New York Nut Growers Association on Saturday, April 24, 2010, from 9:00 to 3:00, at SUNY, Delhi, in Delhi, NY. (See https://www.delhi.edu/about/directions.php for directions and lodging.)

We will have experienced growers speaking about hazelnuts, black walnuts, English walnuts, chestnuts, hickory nuts, and pawpaw (a fruit). There will be talks on Agroforestry, the history of black walnut from Central America, managing and selling black walnut and butternut for timber, and ways to protect young nut trees.The day’s program will include the planting of nut trees. Each participant will receive nut samples to eat and to plant.

Registration is $15, including a light breakfast and lunch.
