Organic Farm in Pennsylvania

Organic Farmer Job (Seasonal, April-October) starting April 2016

About Everblossom

Everblossom Farm is an organic farm in East Berlin, PA, that has a year-round CSA with 15 pickup locations and growing, and also does farmers markets and supplies some local restaurants. We grow the freshest and tastiest vegetables and berries, and take pride in our sustainable farming methods, as well as the positive impact of fresh, local food in the community. Everblossom is a woman-owned family farm with a dedicated crew, and we are looking for our next great farmer to join our crew.

Position Overview

We are hiring an organic farmer to join our crew next season, working 45+ hours per week, paid hourly. This person will report to the farm manager, and will have primary duties of field work. Field work includes harvesting crops according to our standard practices (there will be training), weeding, sorting harvested crops, and assisting with any other manual labor on the farm. The ideal candidate should have the ability to work at an effective pace in harvesting, accept and integrate instructions and feedback, and take a proactive role in asking for guidance when it comes to farm practices.

Our ideal candidate will have at least 1 season of farming experience, and have a strong interest in organic production. This is a highly demanding position during peak season, and requires a “do whatever it takes” personality that can contribute a positive attitude to the team on long days in any weather conditions.

You must be flexible (in schedule and attitude), pay attention to details, act on the desire to succeed, and contribute to the farm’s overall growth; knowledge of the local food system and/or farmers market or food retail experience is a bonus.

Compensation, Reporting, and Physical Requirements: The position is full time, seasonal (April-October), and will work 5 days per week, depending on the farm schedule. The pay rate is $7.50/hourly to start, with growth potential, commensurate with experience.

The following is required of all candidates, please do not apply if you cannot meet these requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be a good driver, and be able to drive a stick shift (or eager to learn!).
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • 1 season of farming experience
  • Enthusiasm about the local food movement!

NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE. To apply for the organic farmer job, email cover letter and resume or work history to:Everblossomjobs@gmail.com with Farmer in the subject line. Please include at least 2 professional references at the end of your cover letter. Interviews will start in over the winter for spring placement.
