Organic Vegetable Farm Jobs on Maple Wind Farm in Vermont

Maple Wind Farm is currently hiring for our fall harvest season. We are a diversified pasture-based livestock and organic vegetable farm located on two conserved properties in Huntington and Richmond, VT. Using environmentally sustainable practices and alternative energy inputs we produce pasture-based beef, pork, and poultry and vegetables for direct and wholesale markets in Vermont and greater New England.

We began growing vegetables using organic practices in 2002 with a 1.5 acre market garden, a 30-member CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and a nice site with flat, tillable, river bottom sandy loam. Since then, we have become certified organic by the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont, increased the size of our operation to 15 acres under production in and included our own propagation greenhouse and an unheated high tunnel for winter production and season extension.

We grow about 35 varieties of crops from radishes and specialty peppers, to kale, with the bulk of our crops focused on roots and squash for winter storage. Most of our crops are sold wholesale through Deep Root Co-op, which distributes throughout the New England area.

Our organic vegetable farm operation is looking to hire two employees for our upcoming harvest season. Part-time work AND full-time work is available. The work mainly involves harvesting, washing and packing beets, celeriac, brussels sprouts and winter squash.  Other projects will include: prepping our winter high tunnel, removing plastic mulch and drip tape, and organizing at the end of the season. The work involves lifting 20-50 lb on a daily basis. We are looking for folks who have: a positive attitude, good work ethic, experience with manual labor, and an interest in vegetable farming. Prior farming experience is not required. We work 8.5 hours/day from Monday-Friday and employment runs from early September until late November. Pay is from $9.50-$10/hour based on experience.
