The Farm and Fiddle Seeks Garden Loving & Animal Adoring Paid Farm Interns in Tennessee for the 2017 Season

Samantha Lamb Foulks here at The Farm and Fiddle. I am one happy peach you are reading our profile & are interested in our farm. We are an organic holistic farm in the heart of Tennessee. Located in an area called Fly, We are a short 45 minute drive to Nashville. We strive to provide a complete diet to our 30 CSA members. We grow veggies for a few like-minded & fantastic restaurants & market customers. In addition, we provide the public with a great farm learning experience. We farm on 21 acres of mixed pasture & hardwood forest. We hand milk our 4 dairy cows year round & seasonally milk our French dairy sheep. By the spring of 2017, we will have over an acre of market garden space where we grow just about everything, including vegetables, fruit, herbs, cut flowers & mushrooms. We also have a large flock of free range Ducks, Chickens & Geese who provide our customers with fresh eggs & meat.

As paid farm interns at Farm and Fiddle you can learn about:

*Organic Gardening

*Soil Building

*Milking & Cheese Making

*Growing Mushrooms

*Selling at Farmers Markets

*Working with livestock

*Canning

*The inner-workings of a CSA

Types of Internships:

*2 Full Season Spots (March-October) -Small money stipend, all meals, portion of market take, room & board, endless animal cuddles & all the veggies you can eat.

*4 two month spots -all of the above, but no stipend 

Full time interns get dibs on the intern cottage, but We also have prepared a room in our barn’s hayloft for our other interns to stay. It has electric & a cozy setup. You will hear our animals below you during the night. We accept up to 3 people at a time. We will ask for references upon your interest in staying at our farm. You will have access to our farm house for the kitchen. You will be given three meals a day & we enjoy communal meal preparing & eating (the fridge is completely yours to eat from also). We have two sheep dogs that stay with the livestock & two rescued dogs that stay around our farm house. We insist that you feel comfortable around dogs.

Our farm is surrounded by many beautiful trees, various other farms & beautiful springs. Many opportunities for exploring. We have a UTV you are welcome to borrow. We are also happy to provide transportation at various times to Nashville or surrounding sights if you do not have a car.
*We expect our Interns & WOOFers to stay at least three weeks & up to the whole growing season.
*You will be expected to work in the garden, work with the dairy cows & dairy sheep, feed & water poultry & occasionally help us at our various farmers markets & above all enjoy your time on our farm.
*You will be given Sundays off & the hours of work will change depending on the projects.
*We prefer no children or pets.
*We really want Interns & WOOFers who want to learn about sustainable farming.
