Real Food Challenge Seeks Young Leaders for Open Positions: Field Organizers, National Team and Summer Interns

The Real Food Challenge is national organization of youth and students uniting for a just and sustainable food system.  We're building a movement on college campuses across the country--working to shift $1 billion of college food purchases to "real food" by 2020--food that is community based, fair, ecologically sound, and humane.  The RFC is a diverse community of young changemakers--through these positions you'll develop many important leadership skills, get connected to a wide network of inspiring food activists, and support the growing Student food Movement.  All positions below are volunteer (stipended) and one year in length. Whether you're a veteran student organizer or completely new to the Real Food Challenge, apply today! The deadline is fast approaching.

Regional Field Organizer (RFO) Program
Through this year long position you’ll learn network-based organizing skills, plan real food events (like summits and summer trainings), support students in their campus campaigns and receive mentorship from experienced young leaders. More info: https://realfoodchallenge.org/RFO

Internships
Individually crafted to suit your needs and ours, internships with the real food challenge are 20 hrs/week for 3 months (summer) and may extend into the school year.  Projects include video production and multimedia, blogging and social media, event planning, food industry research, campaign development and graphic design.

The National Team
Tackle the ins-and-outs of the RFC from a national perspective.  Help make real decisions on the direction of the campaign, connect with other national allies and develop your own leadership skills.  More info: https://realfoodchallenge.org/national_team

As Maggie, a former member of the National Team, put it:

“The opportunity to hash out ideas, strategies, goals, and game plans with bright young people sensitive to race, class, and gender in our food system was a wonderful experience. From basic facilitation techniques to more complex macro-oriented systems thinking, I learned and honed many skills working with the National Team.

The people I met through the RFC National team are a constant source of inspiration and support to me both intellectually and emotionally.  Their shared respect, appreciation and common values of social and environmental justice have made for some truly wonderful friendships.”

Application deadline is April 4th. Please email David@realfoodchallenge.org for more.
