Report: New Farmers and Alternative Markets in the Food Chain

A new report from the Metcalf Foundation (Ontario) suggests that current supply management chains do not work well for new farmers or others engaged in non-conventional forms of farming. While this may not be particularly surprising in itself, the report offers interesting insights into the historical development of food supply chains, the growing demand for differentiation in food products and food retailing strategies, and emerging options for new farmers and alternative markets within the current supply chain.
