Part Time Farm Help Wanted at Steelbow Farm in Maine – 2019

Steelbow Farm is hiring for the 2019 season. We are looking for part-time (20-30 hours) positions, with the possibility of more hours as the season progresses. Work commences mid-May and wraps up in mid-October.

Steelbow is small two person farm. This season we will be cultivating 1.5 acres; organically, intensively, sustainably for farmers market, CSA, and wholesale customers. We care truly, madly and deeply about the quality of the produce we grow. We love our work because it is physical, honest, and gratifying.

We grow a rich array of vegetables and culinary herbs along the Kennebec River Valley in Central Maine.  We are working towards a minimal till system and farm with soil health and ecological diversity in mind. Being that we are 1.5 acres, we practice an intensive market gardening style, with many succession plantings and mostly all hand cultivation. We do use a BCS tractor for bed preparation and incorporating crop residues.

We as farmers and community members believe whole-heartedly in supporting the renaissance of local, rural economies. We want to support a community that supports us!

This said, Steelbow Farm is also a young farm, and we are learning from each season, figuring things out as we go. There is ample room for ideas and to put a mark on our little farm.
