Mountain Sun Farm in Mentone, AL is hiring full-time farm crew members for the 2020 season.  We’re a certified organic production farm and work at a fast pace.  We work through the rain, we get very dirty, and we have fun accomplishing rewarding work. Mentone is an artsy mountain town in NE AL and has an abundance of hiking, boating, climbing, and other outdoor activities. We are also only 40 minutes from Chattanooga, TN. Farm Crew Duties:

• Harvest, wash, and pack vegetables while grading for strict quality standards.
• Plant 20,000+ transplants while riding a water wheel transplanter.
• Assist in propagation greenhouse seeding and management.
• Occasionally deconstruct tomato trellising, hand-weed, or hoe.
• Option to independently operate our table at the Mentone farmer’s market.

Farm Crew Requirements:

• Previous experience in commercial vegetable preferred.
• Passion for organic vegetable production or working outdoors.
• Ability to work in full sun all day or rain.
• Ability to lift and carry 25lb harvest buckets for 400′ or more.
• Ability to harvest ground-level vegetables while bending at the waist for four hours or more.
• Ability to work consistently at an athletic pace.

Farm Crew Position Details:

• Mon – Fri 7am – 4pm  –  Option for Saturdays.
• (Partial availability still considered).
• $12/hr starting pay + produce from the farm
• Opportunity for pay raises through demonstrated proficiency and self-management.
• March/April – November.
